Week of December 4 **You should be to practicing at least 20 minutes every day. Monday *Fingerings & Note Names - Practice moving fingers between all 5 notes. *Sounds on the Instrument - Practice holding a steady sound on the entire instrument. Practice in front of a mirror so you can see your lips and mouthpiece placement and you finger position on the keys. *Practice Tonguing - Make sure that you are starting the sound with your tongue touching the reed (Clar & Sax) or your top teeth (Fl.). *Breathing Exercises - Practice taking in a deep and full breath for 1 count and then hold a sound for 16 counts. You shoudl have a metronome set to 90 while you practice your breathing. *Book - #2-22 Steps for practicing a song in the book: Have a metronome set to 90. STEP 1 - While maintaining a steady toe tap with the metronome, say the counts of the rhythms and point to each symbol as you go. Remember you say the counts for the notes out loud and the counts for the rests rests in your head as you are pointing to the symbol. STEP 2 - While maintaining a steady toe tap with the metronome, say the letter names of the notes in place of the rhythm.
